Fen bilimleri zümresi “Dünya Uzay Haftası” kutlamaları kapsamında, 4 Ekim 2019 Cuma günü Muvaffak Benderli Salonu’nda, Amerikan Ulusal Havacılık ve Uzay Dairesi’nde (NASA) çalışmalarını sürdüren Türk Astrofizikçi Dr. Umut YILDIZ ile “Derin Uzay Araştırmaları” hakkında e-konferans düzenledi. NASA'ya ait Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) adlı birimde derin uzay iletişimi ve astrofizik alanlarında araştırmacı olarak görev yapan Dr. Umut YILDIZ, öğrencilere evrenin ve gezegenlerin yapısı, Güneş sisteminin ve insanlığın oluşumu gibi merak edilen konularda açıklamalarda bulundu. Ayrıca NASA'nın günümüzdeki çalışmaları ve ileriye yönelik projeleri hakkında önemli gelişmeleri de bizlerle paylaştı. Öğrencilerimizin yoğun ilgi ile takip ettiği e-konferans, Dr. YILDIZ’ın soruları yanıtlamasının ardından sona erdi. E- CONFERENCE WITH ASTROPYSICIST DR. UMUT YILDIZ As part of the “World Space Week” celebrations, the science department organised an e-conference, which was about “Deep Space Research”, on Friday, October 4, 2019, in Muvaffak Benderli Hall. The speaker was Turkish Astropysicist Dr. Umut YILDIZ, who is working at the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Dr. Umut YILDIZ, a researcher in deep space communication and astrophysics at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), shared his experiences and knowledge about the structure of the universe and planets, the formation of the solar system and humanity made statements on the subjects. He also shared important developments about NASA's current work and future projects with our students. The e-conference, which is followed by our students with great interest, ended after Dr. YILDIZ answered the questions.

The annual Grade 2 Marbles Day was held on Tuesday the 1st of October. Students spent the previous week designing and making a wide variety of games. There were target games, maze games, marble runs, golf games, and even battery operated devices. Desks and chairs were cleared to make way for the business of some serious marble fun. Some students chose to combine their games to create a whole new level of marble madness. Students participated with lively enthusiasm and tried out each other’s games. Emotions and voices ran high as targets were missed and lucky shots were made. Students enjoyed taking a break from regular school work to practice their English whilst playing with friends and teachers. We would like to thank everyone involved in the designing and making of the games, and well done to Grade 2 for making Marbles Day a success.

1 Ekim Salı günü 6.sınıflarda “Mathletics” yarışması yapıldı. Maraton şeklinde açılışı yapılan bu yarışma kapsamında öğrenciler sorulan soruyu en hızlı şekilde çözmeye çalıştılar. Gün içerisinde de cevapla birlikte öğretmenlerine en çabuk varabilmek için maratona devam ettiler. Yarışmanın kazananı 6.sınıflardan Karla Nur Ütücü oldu ve ödülünü aldı. In 6th grades, “Mathletics” competition was held on Friday, October 19th. The opening of competition was ın the form of a marathon and the students tried to solve the question as quickly as possible. During the day, they continued to the marathon to reach their teachers quickly. In 6th grades the winner of the competition was Karla Nur Ütücü received her reward.

FMV Işık Ortaokulu öğrencileri Dil Bayramı kutlamaları kapsamında okulda ve çevrelerinde farkındalık yaratmak amacıyla çeşitli etkinlikler düzenlediler. 5. sınıf öğrencilerimiz, Atatürk’ün izinde yürüyen dil bekçileri olarak Türkçenin doğru kullanımına dikkat çekmek için hazırladıkları pankartlarla okulu gezerek dilimizi doğru kullanmanın önemini vurguladılar. 6. sınıf öğrencileri “Işıklı” olmanın onlara verdiği sorumlulukla 2. sınıf öğrencilerine “Dil Bilinci ve Mustafa Kemal Atatürk” başlıklı konuşmalar yaptılar. Ellerinde Türkçe sözcüklerin doğru kullanımını gösteren dövizlerle sınıflara giren öğrenciler, Türkçenin doğru kullanılmasına özen gösterilmesi gerektiğine dikkat çektiler. 7. sınıf öğrencilerimiz arkadaşlarına ve öğretmenlerine hazırladıkları “Yazımı Karıştırılan Sözcükler” adlı kutu oyunuyla hem öğrendiler hem de eğlendiler. Çalışmalarıyla dilimize sahip çıkmanın, dilimizi doğru kullanmakla mümkün olabileceğini vurguladılar.

Uluslararası Astronomi Birliği (IAU) etkinlikleri çerçevesinde 41 il, 192 okul ve 254 öğretmen ve öğrencilerin katılımıyla gerçekleşen, Eratosthenes yöntemiyle DÜNYANIN ÇEVRESİNİ HESAPLAMA etkinliğini biz de FMV Işık Okulları Nişantaşı Kampüsü olarak okulumuzda gerçekleştirdik. 7. Sınıf öğrencilerimizle, ölçüm yaptığımız düzeneğimizle enlemimize göre güneşin tam tepede olduğu saatte, gölge boyu ve güneşin geliş açısından faydalanarak, oran orantı yöntemi ile ekvatorun çevre uzunluğunu yaklaşık olarak hesapladık. As FMV Isık Schools Nisantası Campus, we calculated the circumference of the world by using the Eratosthenes Method conducted by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 41 provinces, 192 schools and 254 teachers. Students participated in the experiment simultaneously. Our Grade 7 students measured the length of a shadow and the angle of sun’s rays and used the ratio method to calculate the approximate circumference of the world.
