In the first session of the “Between the Lines” series, organized by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature for adult readers under the auspices of Işık High School, we explored Han Kang’s award-winning novel The Vegetarian. Together with Cultural Studies Specialist and Literary Researcher Cansu Kutlualp, we discussed the novel’s translation journey, Han Kang’s path to the Nobel Prize, and themes such as patriarchy, silence, the body, and domination. We thank Cansu Kutlualp and all participants for this inspiring evening, where literature opened the door to thoughtful conversations and new perspectives.
