Learning Centre

The FMV Private Florya Işık Primary School Nerkiz-Dr. Said Akçura Learning Center is a dynamic learning space that supports students’ academic success while also enhancing their research skills. Here, students strengthen their literacy foundations through books, articles, digital content, and other resources. In addition, they are introduced to and develop critical skills such as inquiry, research, analytical thinking, and a solution-focused approach.

Aligned with the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Learning Center helps students develop into inquirer and knowledgeable individuals. Through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning engagements in the units of inquiry, students conduct research across a broad range of topics, gathering information from various sources and analyzing it. This process not only teaches students how to access information but also instills the principles of academic integrity from an early age. Students become familiar with concepts such as plagiarism, proper citation, and quoting, and learn to incorporate these practices into their work.

In regular Information Literacy and Academic Integrity lessons, students learn how to access reliable information and conduct research with a respectful, careful, and ethical approach. By questioning sources, using proper references when quoting, and showing respect for others' ideas, students grow into responsible, principled individuals, not just academically, but also socially and ethically.

The Learning Center also features the Arzu Akçura Planetarium, a unique space that fosters students’ curiosity about space. As students explore planets, stars, and the sky, they engage in scientific inquiry and discovery, gaining an understanding of the mysterious structure of the universe.

Enriched by art, literature, science, inquiry, exploration, and play, the Learning Center offers a warm and secure learning environment that supports students’ academic, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
