The Surface Effect and Meaning of Natural Textures in Art
Our 9th grade Visual Arts students carried out an interdisciplinary study in collaboration with their Biology classes, focusing on the classification of plants. Inspired by botanical and morphological plant structures, students closely examined the colors, textures, and forms of plants and created original artworks based on their observations. Through this interdisciplinary process, students strengthened their skills in deep thinking, careful observation, and interpretation within the framework of the UbD approach. They also developed an appreciation for the importance of plants for all living beings and gained a stronger sense of responsibility toward nature. The project offered a meaningful learning experience that brought science and art together in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4, 12, and 15. By integrating scientific inquiry with artistic expression, our students reinterpreted natural textures from both aesthetic and ecological perspectives. We congratulate all students who participated in this inspiring project.
